Hydrate & Moisturize

Hydrating and moisturizing are important to healthy skin. Hydrate first, then moisturize.

Just add Water.

When we talk about hydrating our skin, we talk about adding water. The best way to hydrate our skin is to drink plenty of water. Our bodies are mostly water; so staying hydrated is essential to good health. Water helps eliminate toxins and promote digestion, as well as support blood flow and cell growth. If the inside of your body is dehydrated, your outside will be too.

You also can hydrate your skin from the outside. Hydrosols are water-based, which makes them great for your skin. Witch hazel, rose, lavender, and chamomile hydrosols are safe and gentle for all skin types.

Lock in moisture. Moisturizers help “lock” in moisture. A good moisturizer helps protect skin from environmental elements like sun, wind, and dry air. For a moisturizer to be effective, your skin needs to be well hydrated. It’s best to apply moisturizer while your skin is still damp. Lipid (fat) based carrier oils are among the best moisturizers for your skin. Try avocado, jojoba, sweet almond, or wheatgerm oil.

Customize with essential oil. Add a few drops (no more than 5) of essential oil per 1 oz. of carrier oil for a moisturizer best suited to your skin type.
